Medicine meets art in a not so material world…..

One of the PCSG Digest’s distinguished cover artists, Dr Aruna Mene, Consultant Histopathologist at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, has a solo exhibition of her vibrant fabric collages in Central London this September. The exhibition, which runs from the September 24th to September 27th (10am-6pm) will be at the Nehru Centre, High Commission of India, in South Audley Street.

It features Dr Mene’s extraordinary, colourful, ecologically ‘green’ pictures created by using thousands of scraps of fabric remnants and recycled textiles.

The fabric is fused on a canvas board and embellished with coloured stones, crystals and diamanté to create a rich and evocative fairy tale mood.

‘These happy collages hope to convey optimism, the joy of living and to celebrate life. They are inspired by the enchanting natural world, love, romance and passion,’ she says.

Dr Mene is fundraising, through her artwork, for the neonatal intensive care unit at University College Hospital, London.

PCSG members are invited to attend the official opening which takes place on Tuesday, 24th September at 6.15 pm.  The PCSG is delighted that one of Dr Mene’s collages, Tree of Life, will feature on a forthcoming front cover of The Digest.
